Will you be inviting people who already know how to? You could have something like a kick off and make it that you will be doing it for charity. I kind of do something like this now, we meet every other Monday night and the finished items will be given to a charity.
You could also have everyone bring their favorite yarn and each make a square and sew them together.
Also find a easy pattern that can be knitted and crocheted and have everyone bring the yarn in their favorite color and all work on the same project. Lion Brand has some very easy patterns were working on prayers shawls, they knit up very easy and look awesome when done.
I would recommend having a meal before hand as you are probably not going to want food around yarn. Maybe offer some cheese and crackers and such.
Network, talk to other who knit and have everyone invite someone if you don’t know enough, its amazing how many people do this and others have no idea.
Good Luck and best of all have fun!
The first thing you should do is ask if anyone is interested in the party. The next thing would be to find out which of the two would be their choice. Ask them if they are beginners or have done either one for any length of time. This is best way to get started then you will have some idea what you will have to have on hand to have the party. Then when you get this information come back and ask again.
Is this a party for people you already know or are you thinking more of a ’stitch n witch’ type of gathering of like-minded knitting fiends?
Remember that knitters can get a bit obsessive and others don’t always want to join in on our obsession! Read here for great, illustrative story:
For a meeting of the “already converted” I strongly suggest searching meetup.com to see if there might already be a group started. You can even organize a new meetup by pledging to take part when it all comes together.
Have fun and happy knitting! I hope to read more details/ info!
what you could do is stash trading ,everyone brings a bag of stash yarn they are not using and trades . you could also play the vegas knitting game , everyone can bring a fancy type yarn and what you do is . get a quarter and one dice (die) then you have six different colors or styles of this fancy novelty yarn . use the quarter for heads and tails gor knit and purl and for one through six on the die label the yarn 1-6 each of you will need a circular knitting needle that holds 144 stitches maybe size ten or so. then you make scarves with this game. every row will be a different stitch and yarn. it’s fun
I would be interested in attending a party, but I’m just starting so I would need some lessons. Is this for beginners or pros? Would someone be there to help the beginners get started on this obsession?
